H1N1 & Dengue

Reports on daily tv and newspapers inform us that H1N1 is not over yet.

At one point, after many people died from it, things seemed to cool off quite a bit. But now, the second wave of the outbreak that attacks mostly fat people is already here, they say.

The number of casualties due to H1N1 is on the rise once again.

There's also the dengue fever threat.

Interestingly, when I was a kid, dengue fever cases were mainly reported in kampungs.

But this is not true about present day dengue cases.

Dengue is now an urban epidermic, and more townsfolk suffer the Aedes mosquitoes' bites than those living in rural Malaya.

I wonder what the Health Ministry is doing to curb dengue and H1N1?

Really, seriously.

From watching the news, I do understand one thing ~ that the job of the Director General of Health is actually very easy; he merely announces daily how many people died from H1N1 & dengue the previous day.

(Note: More or less like the Atuk Penyimpan Mohor Besar who announces the beginning or Ramadhan and when Hari Raya is).

I don't hear or see this Director General of Health bloke Ismail Merican doing anything else besides making such announcements. Do you?

It seems the skill that he needs to perform his job is just the ability to count... dead people.

Sempoi!

I'd be smiling too if my job's as easy as this guy's!
